Biografia Breve
Nasci em 1951, Greifswald, RDA.
Em 1967 aprendi a profissão de tipógrafo-impressor.
Trabalhei em Jena, Turíngia como trabalhador de lavandaria, serralheiro e operador de máquina em várias grandes empresas.
Fui co-fundador dum grupo de oposição cultural.
Comecei a fotografar em 1979, em Berlim, depois de ter saído da prisão Stasi e exilado para a Alemanha Federal.
Em 1981 fui para Polónia, altura das lutas sociais do movimento "Solidarnosc", percorrendo o país numa viagem documental e fotográfica.
Trabalhei em Berlim como freelancer realizando sobretudo trabalhos documentários para diversos jornais e revistas como Stern e exposições.
Viajei pela checoslovákia, Quénia, Somália, India, Bangladesh e Roménia.
Mais recentemente realizei no Museu da Imagem em Braga a exposição que viria dar origem e este livro.
Pela primeira vez visitei Portugal no ano 2001. Desde 2002 vivo em Portugal.
Profundamente perturbado pelos incêndios florestais que devastam todos os anos a terra portuguesa, acompanhados pela incapacidade política e indiferença social, fundei com a minha esposa Teresa o Movimento Terra Queimada após os incêndios no ano 2010 que assolaram na Serra do Gerês e na Serra da Freita. Defini os incêndios como uma guerra civil em que a arma é o fogo e as vítimas não têm defesa. Decidimos atuar e escolhemos a reflorestação e o envolvimento social como nossa arma.

I was born in 1951, Greifswald, East Germany.
In 1967 I learned the profession of typographer-printer.
I worked in Jena, Thuringia as a laundry worker, locksmith and machine operator in several large companies.
I was co-founder of a cultural opposition group.
1979 i started photgraphing in in Berlin, after leaving the Stasi prison and beeng exiled to West Germany.
In 1981 I went to Poland, in the time of the struggles of the movement "Solidarnosc", traveling the country in a documentary and photographic journey.
Traveled through checoslovákia, Kenya, Somalia, India, Bangladesh and Romania.
More recently i realized at the Museum of Image Braga exhibition that would result and this book.
I first visited Portugal in 2001. Since 2002 living in Portugal.
Deeply disturbed by forest fires that devastate every year the Portuguese land, accompanied by political incapacity and social indifference, I founded with my wife Teresa Earth Movement Burned after the fire in 2010 that devastated the Serra do Geres and Serra da Freita. Defined forest fires as a civil war in which the weapon is fire and the victims have no defense. We decided to act and choose reforestation and social involvement as our weapon.
